Delta Air Lines and the St. Regis hotel brand are among the big winners in Executive Travel magazine's Leading Edge Awards for 2013. Delta was named "Best Overall Domestic Airline,” beating out Southwest, which landed in second place, and JetBlue, which came in third. Virgin America won the award in 2012.
Delta also took the top spot in the categories of:
Best Domestic Airline Airport Lounges (American was second, JetBlue third)
Best Domestic Airline Frequent-Flyer Program (Southwest was second, American third)
Best Domestic Airline Premium-Class Service (American was second, JetBlue third)
Delta placed third, however, in the category of “Best Domestic Airline Customer Service.” Southwest won that category, followed by JetBlue in second place.
The magazine also selected winners in non-aviation categories, including hotels, car rental companies and credit card rewards programs. Starwood's St. Regis hotel brand was selected as the "Best Hotel Overall.”
National was named "Best Rental Car Company Overall," and the American Express Membership Rewards Program won for "Best Credit Card Rewards Program." Winners were selected through a questionnaire made available to Executive Travel readers at roireasearch.com/leadingedgeawards from January 31, 2013 to April 1, 2013. Readers were invited to participate through dedicated email invitations, the Marth/April issue of Executive Travel magazine, ExecutiveTravelMagazine.com, the Executive Travel CheckIn newsletter and social media.
