Recap of “Understanding Your Tax Responsibilities (Brazil & USA)”
The Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce of the Southeast hosted “Understanding Your Tax Responsibilities (Brazil & USA)” on Oct. 22 in Atlanta to clarify the tax questions of Brazilians living in the United States, and all of those who have income and property in Brazil.
Dr. Marta Borges C. Ura, a lawyer expert in Brazilian taxes with more than 20 years of experience, presented the first panel. She outlined the steps to filing Brazilian taxes from out of the country, and explained the different tax requirements of those who have income and/or property in Brazil.
Following this panel, experts from Bennett & Trasher, one of the ten largest accounting firms in Atlanta with 30 years in existence, gave a presentation on the tax duties of immigrants in the United Status based on their residency status.
After the presentations guests who signed up in advance, were able to have 30-minute private meetings with Dr. Ura. Those who participated received recommendations on whether they should take a “Tax Diagnostic”-- which is an assessment done by the Brazilian revenue service (Receita Federal), to verify the individual tax requirements of residents based on their number of identification.
Bennett & Trasher is a member of BACC-SE. Dr. Marta Borges C. Ura is a consultant who works for Adviser, a Bennet &Trasher partner firm in Brazil.
